Chris Jones grew up in a small town of Moundsville, West Virginia.  It runs along the Ohio River.  The Ohio Valley is a hotbed for producing professional athletes.
At John Marshall High School, Chris was one of the top pitchers in the area.  Then Ohio State baseball assistant, Joe Carbone stopped by to see him pitch 3 innings before heading to see his intended recruiting target.
When Coach Carbone returned to campus, he let Head Coach Dick Finn know he found his pitcher.  It wasn't the lefty who he was sent to scout.  It was Chris Jones!  A scholarship was offered and a few years later Chris was drafted in the 4th round by the Toronto Blue Jays.  You never know who's watching you play for the first time.
